SIGNS OF HEATSTROKE IN YOUR DOGS: A day spent romping at the beach or playing softball in the park is fun for the whole family. But keep an eye on your pet -- she's the one wearing the fur coat. Overheating can lead to heatstroke, a condition that occurs when a dog is unable to maintain a normal body temperature by panting. Watch for signs of heatstroke, such as heavy panting; excessive salivating; staggered walking; muscle tremors; seizures; glazed eyes; noticeably darker tongue and gums; vomiting; or bloody diarrhea.
Contact your vet; a visit may be necessary to check your pet for dehydration and other complications. |
